Get in Touch

Use the right public office for a Hancock County jail or court question. This site is a private reference guide, not a government office, and it cannot confirm custody, arrange release, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record.

Hancock County Busted Mugshots does not operate the jail or court system. It cannot verify whether a person is in custody, provide a release date, secure a record, or speak for the sheriff, jail, clerk, or a records custodian. Use the official contacts below for an authoritative answer.

Official Hancock County Records Contacts

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department lists Sheriff Brad Brewer and places the sheriff’s office and Hancock County Jail in the same building:

Hancock County Sheriff’s Department
Hancock County Jail

265 New Jail Street
Sneedville, TN 37869
Phone: (423) 733-2250 or (423) 733-2249
Fax: (423) 733-8868
Email: hancockcoso@yahoo.com
Office administrator: Kay Brooks

The county directory directs questions about visitation, commissary, inmate charges, and release dates to the sheriff. It does not publish counter hours, a distinct non-emergency or records line, a photo-fee schedule, roster update timing, or an online record-request form. Call or email first, ask for the current public-records custodian and current office hours, and confirm the office’s preferred request method before traveling.

Court File and Disposition Questions

For a later case filing, docket, index, or disposition, use the Hancock County Circuit Court Clerk. The clerk’s published contact is:

Micah Wallen, Circuit Court Clerk
1237 Main Street
PO Box 347
Sneedville, TN 37869
Phone: (423) 733-2954
Fax: (423) 733-2119
Email: micah.wallen@tncourts.gov
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The clerk is the local path for court information after booking. A court record may show what happened later in the case, but the clerk’s listing is not a promise that the office holds a particular jail booking photo.

Choosing the Right Official Path

  • For current custody, inmate charges, release information, or whether the jail has a person’s booking record, contact the sheriff’s office directly.
  • For an existing booking record or photograph, ask the sheriff’s office to identify the current records custodian. A focused request should identify the person, approximate booking date, and booking number or arresting agency when known.
  • For the rules that govern a Tennessee public-records request, review the Tennessee Public Records Act guidance. T.C.A. § 10-7-503 is the state statute commonly associated with access to public records.
  • For a later court disposition, use the circuit court clerk rather than assuming that a booking allegation resolved in a particular way.
  • For background on the official search and request path, see the Hancock County guide. Questions about a warrant should be directed through official channels; the Wanted Fugitives page explains that distinction.

Older Request Form, Current Confirmation

A 2017 Hancock County public-records policy and form is available as a historical reference, but it is not a current promise about the county’s custodian, forms, fees, or processing time. Use it only to help frame a request, then confirm the current procedure with the sheriff’s office. The county’s present practice controls.
